from DARK EARTH – ANTIC

Goddamn the penny
Ante satanic antics of everyday

Adversarial lies that pass
As discussion, in which you

Assume, graceless
You’re above the fray

Competition you made
For a self

A mere ego stroke away
From having its heart

Attack itself in protest of the narcissism
And die

Suddenly disabused
Of the notion that others do not remain

Puppets in your museum
That monument to unholy lies

You enshrine until
The idea of sacrifice is suicide

The unpetalling of a rose
Your only crime

from Provenances And Paroles – Seasoning

You have a right to your opinion like
a fat woman has a right to another piece of pie.
Same caloric output; same intake of the
indigestible sweets: chemicals and lies. Different
results unaccountably yet received the same.

You wonder why nations fail and falter as
the search goes on for who’s to blame. You
express yourself with moods and chatter:
like my cat tick-tacks at a prey disappearing.
Four and twenty blackbirds and none of them can rhyme.

I do not belong to the Church of Trump, the cult
of crazy so-called politics being
borderline personalities excreting their will
to smother talk and rationale in false triumph
of the Jehovian I am because I say I am, being
nothing more than metaphysical jam: tart mostly
with the bitter bread of unrisen yearning

A spiritual burning of self-defeat the inverted
totalitarianism informing on themselves,
amid carved crosses and scythes, scimitars –
the broken swords of an unwillingness to be vulnerable,
trusting no one who does not resemble
their own pachydermic pride of swollen egos:
the abyss where all lost tribes now eventually go

Anywhere

You can be murdered anywhere, but
you’ll always die in Congress or in Parliament.

From a lack of care or indifference
to what’s said and done by everyone expecting
salvation be a ladder to Paradise, until
the stairs to another life declining repair
prove they lead nowhere but upside down.

Change will come eventually you think,
forgetting the war ongoing in everything
where slaughter is observed religiously,
statistics carved in counterfeit
register complaint surreptitiously proud.

To serve the perverted ego’s lazy appetite
for the curve of constancy, no matter what
it takes to frame familiar certainty:
mistaken for the truth still boasting loudly
for release from the cage of incessant proof.

In our recalcitrant lives something despairs,
training us for extinction as the prize.

Holly, No Wood…

The vacuous perfidy of clowns
requires the brass
of bronze, gilded
globes of what’s in pawn

Called golden, fatted
calves all
talk, anything else’s
invisible except

Hoorahs, cash
swag
the pirates walk
off these broken

Planks
lumbering forward
skyward bubble bursts:
believers scrag the political world

What a bunch of stiffs unfurled
